I’ve decided to stop overthinking my writing process, and start putting my thoughts out there. So today I’m sharing a few of the ways I soothe and ground myself when life gets stressful or overwhelming.
These small care practices are a personal exercise in commitment, consistency and sensitivity. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to work for me.
Writing and reflecting on this list has shown me how much my self soothing practices have evolved over time. It excites and encourages me to see my inner wisdom grow.
Despite these changes, I’ve noticed that many of these grounding experiences have kept their impact or stayed the same simply because:
They work.
I like them.
Successful self soothing takes time to practice in order to bear fruit.
This reminds me that there is meaning and value in maintaining my routines and rituals, no matter how silly or tiny they seem.
I’ve become more gentle with my grounding practices by incorporating space to feel, accepting help, or letting myself release without added judgment or pressure. Because of this, my inner world is a softer, and kinder place. I love that for me.
If you’re inspired to make your own list, what stands out? Has anything shifted or changed in your self soothing practice? What makes a difference with your stress these days?
